Derailed Commodity was formed by Henry Smith and his sons Larry and Miles in 1965. Originally formed to market railroad and insurance salvage, the company began to merchandise building supplies such as paneling and lumber in August of 1967. In 1969, Larry and Miles traded some paneling for carpet…this was the beginning of what would eventually lead to over 15 million dollars a year in floor covering sales today!

Larry passed away in 2002, and Miles has since retired…however, their children have since taken over the company and continue to build upon the legacy that their parents and grandfather built. Although the current business is based on top-quality, top-name brand products – Derailed Commodity still strives to offer our customers the best selection at the lowest prices in the area.
